About the fibers:
- Corriedale wool combed top. Elastic, with a medium/soft hand, at 25-30 microns. Great for spinning a nice, bouncy yarn, and all types of felting. A favorite of needle felters. Colors are quite rich on this lovely fiber.
- Polwarth wool combed top. 22-25 microns and a longer staple makes for a lovely spinning experience. Polwarth is quite skin friendly.
- Falkland Islands Merino wool combed top. 20-22 microns. This Falkland is so soft and silky!! It has the characteristic bright whiteness, and makes for a lovely spin, skin friendly and easy drafting.
- Silky, shiny Bluefaced Leicester wool combed top. The softest of the long wools, BFL has a lovely sheen and yields a drapey yarn.
- BFL Swirl- natural brown and ecru BFL ribbons in combed top. A high quality preparation, smooth and without nepps. A joyful spin which will yield a subtle, nuanced yarn.
- Targhee wool combed top. A lovely spin, with a fine yet powerful crimp. Your yarn will have lots of trapped air and a wonderful elasticity. Targhee is super skin friendly, too! Grown and processed in the USA.
- 18.5 micron Merino wool combed top. This base is one of my favorites. It is extremely soft yet has a little body. It’s easy to spin, having just enough tooth to not slip through your fingers, and the staple length is just right. It’s also a favorite of wet and nuno felters.
- 50/25/25 23 micron Merino wool/tussah silk/flax combed top. Wide stripes of silk and flax with sweet Merino wool in a combed top preparation. Your yarn will be rustic and full of character. Shiny silk grabs the dye vividly, while the flax remains its natural color. This base is a favorite of art yarn spinners, weavers and felters for it’s interesting textures. Try corespinning it, you will be delighted!
