Bleached tussah silk noils. Extremely short stapled, this fiber preparation is lovely to card into batts or add into your paper making slurry, and great for dyeing, too.
Dyeing tips (learned the hard way)- Soak the noils for a long time in water with a few drops of dish detergent to aid the wetting. I squeeze and pull the noils to make sure they get fully wet- they don’t like water so it takes a little work. I have found I need to use twice the dye by weight of fiber dyeing silk noils vs wool products. I add the acid after I make sure the dye is even throughout the noils, as some colors strike super fast. I use citric acid.
If you need some dyed message me via chat, available bottom right of your screen. I love custom orders and I’m happy to dye the colors you need.
